Edinburgh Playing Out has continued to work with City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) to enable free road closures for street play and community togetherness. We are delighted to report that the guidelines for parents wishing to apply to close their street for the Edinburgh pilot of Playing Out went live today.
You can find the guidelines at: http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/playingout
CEC has agreed to this four month pilot for up to 20 streets at no charge. As far as we can see, you can ask for as many closures on your street as you like, so it could be one afternoon a week, a fortnight, a month - you decide. Before you get permission there are several things you need to do and the guidance takes you through these. If you are interested, get in touch with your local Neighbourhood Team (emails in the link above) as soon as you can as the summer has already started and only 20 streets can take part.
Edinburgh Playing Out will do our best to assist with the process if you get in touch with us. Meantime, happy playing out and getting to know the neighbours.
We'd be very grateful if you could Tweet, Facebook, or otherwise distribute the good news to people and organisations you work with.
